Vintage Vietnamese Rosewood & Mother-of-Pearl Inlay Hexagonal Toothpick Box

This distinctive table artifact is an authentic piece of late 20th-century Vietnamese lacquerware and woodwork (circa 1970s–1990s). Shifting from large furniture to fine decorative objects, masters in historic artisan villages carved this hexagonal vessel from high-density Vietnamese rosewood (trắc wood).

The focal point is the fine Khảm xà cừ—the traditional Vietnamese art of mother-of-pearl inlaying. The profile showcases a hand-cut, shimmering iridescent abalone shell vignette of a woman clad in a traditional Áo dàigown and a Nón lá (conical palm-leaf hat). This imagery represents the classic, poetic celebration of Vietnamese heritage and graceful femininity popularized for global collectors.
