Vintage Mid-Century Indian Brass "Elephant Claw" Temple Bell

An authentic vintage Indian brass "claw" bell (also known as an elephant or temple bell), dating back to the mid-20th century (circa 1940s–1960s). Hand-cast in historic metalworking centers like Moradabad or Jaipur, these pieces were popularized globally by mid-century importers such as Sarna.

The dome is beautifully hand-etched with stylized Meenakari floral and leaf borders, highlighted with deep red champlevé enamel accents. The bottom tapers into a classic protective "claw cage" that safely seals an internal metal clapper. Historically, these sonorous bells were worn by ceremonial elephants during festivals or used in spiritual temple meditation to channel strength and clear energy.
