Antique Japanese Meiji Fine Wire Cloisonne Mini Pagoda Vase

This miniature cabinet sculpture dates back to the high Meiji Period (circa 1880–1900). It is a premier example of Japanese workshop metalcraft engineered for the Western export market. The vessel is hand-formed from a heavy-gauge brass sheet core, structurally reinforced with an internal brass cylinder neck brace and an unpolished patinated metal base plate. The exterior features a spectacular, smooth, clear-glazed stippled dot background effect designed to replicate the elegant, dense geometry of natural shagreen or fish-roe matrices. Using micro-fine copper cloisons, the central scenic reserve documents a traditional multi-tiered mountain pagoda nestled flawlessly among dark green pine trees, demonstrating the absolute peak of late 19th-century technical enamel engineering.
