Vintage Brass Octagonal Sundial Compass

A highly decorative vintage reproduction of a classical 18th-century European astronomical instrument. Modeled after an authentic equinoctial pocket sundial by master instrument maker Johann Schretegger of Augsburg, Germany, this octagonal solid brass case features extensive, hand-stamped geometric borders and zig-zag engraving

The mechanical interface features a hinged circular sundial ring that flips up to deploy a central time-casting gnomon pin, balanced by a folding side latitude arc graduated from 0 to 80 degrees. The underside of the base plate features an accurate replica engraving of the historical Elevatio Poli (polar elevation) table, listing travel latitudes for major European hubs—including Augsburg (48°), Paris (49°), Kraków (50°), and Liège (51°)—alongside the maker's signature stamp.
