"Roses de Bagatelle" Apothecary Jar
This original turn-of-the-century French porcelain apothecary jar perfectly fuses botanical science with fine ceramic art. The cylindrical jar features a cream-and-slate ground split by warm ochre bands. The panels are hand-painted with detailed, historical botanical studies of Parisian Roses de Bagatelle and trailing Rose Bengale specimens flanked by fine foliage branches.
Replicating an old-world nursery or museum archive block, the panels feature delicate, hand-written cursive script detailing old-world ledger numbers (No. 299, No. 927, P. 928). Fitted with its original matching porcelain lid hand-inscribed with a nod à Topkapi, and anchored by a beautiful geometric Greek-key wave pattern at the base.
