Champlevé Brass Trinket Box

A masterful testament to late-19th-century metalwork this trinket box is crafted from brass and adorned with intricate champlevé enameling. The lid features a stylized, hand-engraved floral fan emblem framed by black and pink enamel borders. This technique requires artisans to meticulously carve recessed cells directly into the brass before firing the colorful glass pastes.

Objects of this scale were the height of functional luxury in European society for carrying small, daily amenities such as cosmetics, pills, or mints.
