Individually hand-decorated during the Showa Era, the underside features a rare combination of the hand-painted cobalt underglaze Matsuemon (松右衛門) kiln signature, a gilded studio crest, and its original Heygill Imports paper label.

The elongated, multi-lobed basin is meticulously decorated with alternating brocade panels of deep underglaze cobalt blue and vibrant overglaze iron-red. These intricate geometric bands frame breathtakingly dense, scenic reserves of traditional pheasants nestled among blooming wisteria and layered crimson peony blossoms, hand-finished with 24-karat gold gilt scrollwork.
