Cyanotypes, Anna Atkins

The book documents her pioneering photographic studies of fern specimens, rendered in the distinctive prussian blue of the cyanotype process. Atkins worked in the 1840s, when photography was still nascent — her methodical archive predates nearly all comparable scientific documentation.
